KPSEA Results Out, KCSE Results Coming Soon – Education Ministry Confirms Major Updates!

In a press release dated January 4, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos urged parents of KPSEA candidates to promptly check their children’s results once the portal opens.

“Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) learner reports will be available on school portals starting the week of January 6, 2025,” the statement read.

KPSEA serves as a pivotal assessment for Grade 6 learners, evaluating the impact of the competency-based curriculum (CBC) on their primary education. The Ministry confirmed that the pioneer CBC cohort would transition to Grade 9 as scheduled this term.

Additionally, the government announced that Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results would be released within the first two weeks of January.

The Ministry outlined that the first term of 2025 will span 13 weeks, inclusive of a five-day midterm break, with schools reopening nationwide on Monday, January 6.

In 2024, a total of 1,313,913 candidates sat for KPSEA across 35,573 centers. To support the seamless transition to Grade 9, the Ministry highlighted the construction of 16,000 classrooms across four phases, with a completion rate of 93%. For areas where construction is pending, field officers and school administrators have been directed to implement temporary solutions to ensure learner safety.

The Ministry also confirmed the distribution of 9,926,618 textbooks, set to be completed by January 6, to ensure smooth academic operations.

Regarding funding, Ksh48.3 billion in capitation will be allocated for the year, with 50% disbursed for term two (30% of the total capitation) and the remaining 20% for term three.
