A family from Kitale in Trans-Nzoia County of Kenya faces extreme emotional suffering because their family member Edna Mmbali Ombakho vanished without explanation after she left for her postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
Edna, who went to the UK for her master’s degree at York St John University, last appeared on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Wraysbury, Berkshire. Her family became worried because she did not contact them after the first sighting of her because they considered her to have active social relationships, which involved constant communication.
The human rights organization HAKI Africa confirmed that Edna’s family made an emergency call to them, which showed that dangerous events had occurred. The organization stated that every clue, including those that seem unimportant, should be investigated because they might help discover Edna’s location. The organization has asked the public to assist them by coming forward with any information they possess about her whereabouts.
Edna stands at 5 feet 5 inches tall, whereas her family describes her character as soft-spoken yet extremely talkative. UK authorities are conducting an active investigation into her disappearance, which they track through case reference number 43260053275. The police in the UK request anyone with relevant information to call 999 while mentioning the investigation number.
Edna’s relatives in Kenya, including Dr. George Ombakho and Jesse Ombakho, have published local contact numbers so that people with information can contact them. The family has reached a state of increasing distress because they spent multiple nights without sleep while their situation showed no signs of improvement.
The recent reports about missing citizens from Kenya who disappeared while abroad have created a deep impact on the entire Kenyan population. The death of two Kenyans under mysterious conditions in the United Kingdom during January 2026 raised additional doubts about the safety of Kenyan citizens who travel to foreign countries.
