Seme, Kisumu County — A Kenya Defence Forces officer was fatally stabbed after being ambushed while returning from Asat Beach. The 46-year-old officer was with another man, who suffered serious injuries during the attack. Both were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital, where the officer succumbed to his wounds, while his companion remains in critical condition.
Officials say the assailants, armed with sharp weapons, carried out what appeared to be a premeditated assault. Security teams swiftly cordoned off the area and launched investigations, appealing to residents for any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.
The incident has intensified concerns about rising insecurity in rural and peri-urban areas, with experts warning that even off-duty security personnel face serious risks. Community leaders have called for calm, while authorities have pledged a thorough investigation and swift accountability for those behind the attack.
