Just as Kenyans grapple with the chilling reality of 37-year-old Margaret Nduta’s looming execution, another bombshell has hit the nation—a 55-year-old woman has been slammed with a jaw-dropping 50-year prison sentence for drug trafficking.
A court in Busia delivered the staggering verdict after prosecutors exposed her role in smuggling 3.9 kilograms of heroin. She was found guilty under Kenya’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act No. 4 of 2022. Her only escape? A colossal fine of Ksh50 million—fail to pay, and it’s half a century behind bars.
Her nightmare began on March 10, 2023, at the Busia One Border Point, where authorities intercepted her with heroin valued at Ksh11.8 million.
Meanwhile, the nation watches in horror as Kenya scrambles to save Nduta from execution in Vietnam. The 37-year-old was caught at Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City, with over two kilograms of narcotics—a crime that Vietnam punishes with death.

In a desperate bid to prevent the unthinkable, Kenya has sent representatives from its Bangkok embassy to Vietnam, hoping to secure a last-minute reprieve. Foreign Affairs PS Korir Sing’Oei confirmed that urgent negotiations are underway to halt Nduta’s execution before it’s too late.
And if that wasn’t enough, Kenyan detectives have just busted a shocking illegal marijuana farm in Kiambu! Acting on a tip-off, officers stormed a half-acre plot in Kidifamaco Estate, uncovering a thriving cannabis plantation. Two suspects—a Kenyan and a Burundian—were swiftly arrested, their illicit operation exposed.
With drug-related crackdowns tightening and extreme penalties being handed out, Kenya is at a crossroads in its battle against narcotics. The question remains: how far will the law go, and who’s next?
