Kenyan Banker Brutally Murdered in London Apartment—Police Hunt for Known Suspect

London police have launched an investigation into the murder of a Kenyan woman, whose lifeless body was discovered in her apartment under suspicious circumstances.

The victim, identified as 43-year-old Marianne Kilonzi, was found with a severe head injury in her South London home. Authorities became involved after she failed to report to work, which colleagues noted was highly unusual for her.

On Friday, January 17, 2025, police discovered her body in a pool of blood, raising suspicions that the perpetrator may have been someone she knew personally. Efforts are underway to track down the suspected individual.

Kilonzi was a rising professional, serving as vice president of trade and working capital sales at a prominent bank, where she had built an 18-year career.

Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren extended condolences to the family, stating, “We believe the suspect was known to Marianne, and there is no wider threat to the public. This is a heartbreaking crime, and our thoughts are with Marianne’s loved ones during this difficult time.”

Her employer also issued a statement expressing their sorrow: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague. Our thoughts and prayers are with Marianne’s family and friends.”

Kilonzi’s tragic case adds to a growing list of incidents involving Kenyans facing violent deaths abroad. Just weeks earlier, a Kenyan woman, 31-year-old Tracy Nyariki, was reported missing in Newark, Delaware. Her body was later discovered in the car of a suspect, allegedly killed out of jealousy.

Both incidents have raised concerns about the safety of Kenyans living overseas, highlighting a troubling pattern of violence against members of the diaspora.
