Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka delivered a fiery declaration today: his coalition is impervious to bribery, intimidation, or political compromise and will remain firmly entrenched in opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
At a press event in Nairobi, Kalonzo spoke for the “United Opposition,” a coalition that includes prominent figures like Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i, Martha Karua, and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Together, they affirmed their unwavering mission: to prevent President William Ruto from securing a second term.“Our focus has never been sharper,” Kalonzo asserted. “Our resolve has never been stronger. Anyone who believes we can be bought or forced to abandon this mission is clearly daydreaming.”

The coalition positioned itself as the torchbearer of good governance, accountability, integrity, and respect for the rule of law and constitution. Kalonzo emphasized their solidarity with everyday Kenyans, especially those they say have been ignored or harmed by current government policies.
On the same day, President Ruto hosted a massive empowerment event at State House, drawing over 15,000 Nairobi residents, where he unveiled a high-impact initiative:
starting next month, 70 youths in each of Kenya’s 1,450 wards will receive KSh 50,000 to start or expand their businesses—a collaboration between the government and the World Bank.
The contrasting scenes speak volumes: while Ruto showcases economic delivery, Kalonzo’s camp stands resolute on principles and resistance. Tensions are high, and bold pledges are flipping the script on Kenya’s pre-2027 political battleground.
