• Fake social media news reported that he had died on a road accident on his way from Kenya.
A day after some false reports that he was dead, Tanzanian gospel singer Bonny Mwaitege has finally spoken. Bonny had been killed in a road accident on his way from Kenya, according to fake news on social media.
Mwaitege admitted in an interview with Millard Ayo that he was shocked when he first received calls from his close friends. “I had traveled to Kenya and then Burundi before returning to Tanzania. “While I was driving, I started hearing the fake news,” he stated.
He continued by explaining: “At the moment, people in the online business are trying to get likes by using false information. I have not done anything that would have caused such a panic.” He guaranteed his fans that he was solid and alive. “I’m asking God to bless you.
“No alarm should be sounded because my fans are showing me love, but they need to know that I am alive,” he added. He then warned those who were spreading false information about him.
“I’m not by any means the only one who has been ‘killed’ via web-based entertainment, my partners via online entertainment have encountered that.
This has happened twice in the past. They must cease.” He stated that the fake news shocked his family. “I got calls from my folks, they were extremely stunned yet everybody is OK now,” Bonny cautioned.
