Ichung’wah Challenges Natembeya Over Allegations of Abduction and Murder
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has challenged Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya to pursue defamation charges against him, suggesting he has information regarding abductions and murders connected to River Yala during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
This follows Natembeya’s threat to take legal action against Ichung’wah for suggesting his involvement in the disappearances and killings of innocent Kenyans, some of whom were reportedly found in River Yala.
Ichung’wah’s legal counsel, Adrian Kamotho, rejected Natembeya’s defamation claims as unfounded, warning that any lawsuit would be dismissed.
Natembeya’s legal representatives, Oringe Waswa & Opany Advocates, previously called for an apology from Ichung’wah in response to allegations linking the governor to crimes against humanity.
In his reply, Kamotho stated that Natembeya’s reputation had already suffered due to his own public admissions. He referenced troubling comments made by Natembeya, including one in which he asserted that authority to “butcher and slaughter people” was given to him by the presidency.
“With a heavy heart, our client finds it necessary to remind you of the reprehensible public confessions and admissions to crimes against humanity he has made recently,” the letter stated.
Kamotho further characterized Natembeya as possessing an inflated sense of self-worth, unable to cope with the public scrutiny resulting from his actions.
