Githeri Man Appeals to Kenyans: “Please Help Me Buy My First Car”

Martin Kamotho, famously known as Githeri Man, has resurfaced with a heartfelt appeal to Kenyans. The once-viral figure is now seeking support to buy his first car, saying he wants to end the struggles of walking long distances.

Kamotho shot to fame in 2017 after he was photographed eating githeri from a plastic bag while waiting to vote. The image turned him into an instant celebrity, earning him national recognition and rewards. However, years later, he admits that much of what was promised to him never materialized, leaving him to face life’s challenges largely on his own.

Speaking candidly, Kamotho said owning a car would give him dignity and independence. “When you have a car, you stop walking. I also want to stop walking and have my own car,” he appealed. His message was not just a request for financial help but also a plea for compassion from a nation that once celebrated him.

Despite past recognition, Kamotho has openly shared his struggles, including battles with addiction, which derailed his progress. His comeback appeal now reflects both vulnerability and determination to reclaim his place in society with a simple dream—owning a car.

Kamotho’s emotional request has already sparked conversations across the country, with many asking whether Kenyans will rally once again to support the man who captured their hearts years ago.
