Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has officially abandoned all his legal efforts to stop the impeachment that ultimately ended his reign!
Gachagua has reportedly written directly to Chief Justice Martha Koome, informing her that he is pulling out every single pre-impeachment petition he and his allies filed last year.
These petitions were aimed at blocking Parliament from booting him out — but now that he’s already out, Gachagua seems to be switching tactics.Gone. Scrapped. Withdrawn.
All four of those initial legal challenges – grouped under what insiders are calling “Cohort One” – are now dead in the water. But hold up — it’s not over yet.

Gachagua is now redirecting his firepower toward a new legal mission: proving that his impeachment was illegal and unconstitutional. He wants the High Court to reverse the historic decision that saw him removed from office in a whirlwind political storm.
In a letter submitted to the Chief Justice, Gachagua’s lawyer Victor Swanya explained that all the major constitutional issues raised in the old petitions are still alive in the current ones. “These arguments are not going away,” the letter hinted.
This move follows another legal shocker: the Court of Appeal recently dismantled a judicial bench that had been controversially assembled by Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu. That panel is now toast — and Chief Justice Koome has been ordered to assemble a fresh team to handle Gachagua’s fightback.

Nine explosive petitions — five in Nairobi and four in Kerugoya — are still active and waiting their day in court. These are Gachagua’s last hope at clawing his way back from political extinction.
As the judiciary scrambles to organize a new bench, Gachagua’s legal team is urging that his formal notice of withdrawal be factored into the reshuffling process.Stay locked to Wamuzi News for exclusive updates on this unfolding legal drama.
