Two children, aged six and four, tragically lost their lives in a fire incident. This occurred at the Heni Dispensary staff quarters in Nyandarua.
The fire, which occurred around 7 pm, affected the first floor of the house where staff members resided. The house, constructed of wood, was completely destroyed, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
The mother is a nurse at the facility. She had left the children at home to buy milk. The fire broke out while she was away.
The mother returned to find the house engulfed in flames. She and the neighbors attempted to rescue the children, but it failed. Despite efforts to contain the fire, the remains of the two girls were discovered after the fire was extinguished.
The bodies were moved to the Engineer Hospital Mortuary for further investigation. Additionally, in Kiambu town, a trader suffered a loss of property worth Sh20 million.
This occurred in a separate fire incident at a supermarket bakery. In Muranga, arson is suspected in a house fire. There were no reported injuries.
