A police officer was found deceased alongside the Manyatta-Kianjokoma road in Embu County
Authorities reported that the officer was discovered on Saturday, December 28 and are looking into the details surrounding the event
His fellow officers are examining whether he was struck by a speeding vehicle or if foul play was involved
Embu North police chief Benjamin Kiprono identified the deceased as 35-year-old Collins Wafula, who was stationed at the Embu North Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) headquarters

Kiprono stated that Wafula was last seen leaving a year-end celebration at the DCC offices
He was reportedly heading towards Kianjokoma, where he later joined a group for drinks at a local bar
However, his activities following that point remain uncertain until the discovery of his body
A passer-by in the Kavutiri area found the officer’s lifeless body and quickly informed the authorities
“It is still unclear if this was a hit-and-run incident or if the officer was murdered elsewhere and his body placed on the road,” said Kiprono
The police chief encouraged residents with any information that could help clarify the circumstances surrounding Wafula’s death to come forward to assist police inquiries
The body was taken to the mortuary while investigations are ongoing. Meanwhile, in Mbita, Homabay, another police officer collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances
The deceased constable was affiliated with the Sena police station
His colleagues mentioned that he was on duty and appeared to be fit when he collapsed and passed away
The body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigations.
