Authorities have arrested a driver from President William Ruto’s motorcade after a tragic accident along Ngong Road on Thursday, where a foreign national lost his life.
According to police reports, the driver whose identity remains undisclosed was briefly detained before being released on cash bail as he awaits his court appearance.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with the government vehicle involved in the accident impounded at Kilimani Police Station for forensic analysis and documentation.
The deceased has been identified as Edgar Charles Frederick, a 79-year-old British citizen. His body has since been transported to Lee Funeral Home, where a postmortem examination will be conducted.

Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that Frederick was hit by the motorcade while crossing the road near Adams Arcade. Reports suggest he had a hearing impairment and did not hear traffic officers warning him of oncoming vehicles.
Following the incident, the National Police Service (NPS) has launched an official inquiry and issued a public advisory urging both motorists and pedestrians to be vigilant and adhere to traffic regulations.
“We urge all road users drivers, pedestrians, and other commuters to remain highly cautious and strictly follow traffic laws to prevent such unfortunate incidents,” the NPS stated.
