Several passengers are feared dead following a collision involving two Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) on the Murang’a-Kenol Highway.
The crash, which occurred in the Wanjii area of Murang’a County, involved a Murang’a Shuttle and a Nakkons Sacco vehicle. Debris from both vehicles was scattered across the highway, as shown in photos obtained by Wamuzi News.
Among the victims were staff from Mwai Kibaki Hospital traveling in the Nakkons Sacco Matatu from Nairobi to Othaya. Those injured have been rushed to Murang’a Hospital for urgent medical care.
Details regarding the exact number of fatalities and the cause of the crash remain unclear as investigations continue.
This accident comes during the post-holiday travel rush, a period already marked by multiple road tragedies.
On December 23, eight people were killed in a series of accidents along the Narok-Mai Mahiu Highway involving two trailers, a matatu, a bus, and private vehicles. A separate incident on January 3 claimed nine lives in the Soy area on the Eldoret-Kitale Highway when a Great Rift Shuttle collided with a lorry, killing the shuttle driver and others.
