Chaos at Gigiri Police Station: Drunk Officer Opens Fire, Killing Colleague!

A horrifying incident unfolded at Gigiri Police Station on the night of Sunday, March 9, when a police officer allegedly turned his weapon on his colleagues, leaving one dead and another injured.

According to early reports, the officer, who was reportedly intoxicated, began shooting inside the station’s canteen, triggering chaos. The suspect, assigned to Parliament’s security team, allegedly engaged in a heated dispute before retrieving his firearm and opening fire. Other officers swiftly intervened to prevent further bloodshed.

Tragically, an officer from Runda Police Station sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Meanwhile, another officer attached to the Judiciary suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen but remains in stable condition after receiving medical attention.

Responding officers managed to overpower the shooter and confiscated a Jericho pistol loaded with 14 rounds. The weapon will undergo forensic analysis as investigations continue into the shocking attack within the police premises.

Authorities are now questioning how an allegedly intoxicated officer was able to fire his weapon inside the station. The suspect is expected to face multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, and misuse of a firearm.

This incident echoes a similar case in February 2025 when a Ruaraka-based officer fatally shot a colleague after a heated argument outside an entertainment joint. The suspect in that case attempted to flee but was subdued by bystanders before being arrested.
