Boy drowns in well while chasing water can, 2 men die in rescue attempt.

Sombre moods has engulfed Kapletundo area in Bomet after 3 people suffocated to death inside a half-full well.

According to Sotik sub-county police chief Muturi Mbogo, the incident happened after a 13-year-old boy who had been sent to fetch water from the well accidentally dropped the can he was using to draw water inside the hole. He tried to chase it but got submerged and drowned.

Witnesses say one of the neighbors, a 45-year-old man who saw him headed to the borehole area suspected something was amiss after he didn’t trace the boy carrying water home. He is alleged to have heard a wild cry inside where he rushed to help rescue him but drowned as well.

The police report further stated that a third victim, 24 -year- old boda boda rider who was the first to witness the two incidents, tried to rescue them but got entangled inside the well and drowned.

Members of the public raised the alarm and used a ladder to retrieve all the three bodies.

Police processed the scene and moved all the bodies to Kaplong Mission Hospital mortuary.
