Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) of the DCI apprehended a 32-year-old individual for trafficking bhang valued at Sh11,683,500 along the Samburu-Kinango road.
According to the DCI’s statement on Saturday, July 20, the suspect, Elisha Omondi, was accompanied by another individual who managed to escape during the ambush by the detectives.
Following a tip-off, the operation was carried out along the Samburu-Kinango road, resulting in the interception of a heavily loaded Toyota Ipsum Reg. No. KBJ 679M at Mdomo center.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, leaving Omondi behind, who was subsequently arrested. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of seven green gunny sacks containing marijuana rolls weighing 389.45 kg, with an estimated street value of Sh11,683,500.
Both the suspect and the confiscated drug were taken to the Mombasa Urban Police Station, while efforts to locate the second suspect are ongoing.
