Mbosso Quits Wasafi Records in Shocking Split with Diamond Platnumz!

Tanzania’s music industry is buzzing after Mbosso officially parted ways with Diamond Platnumz’s Wasafi Records. His departure marks yet another high-profile exit from the label, sparking speculation about his next move and Wasafi’s evolving lineup.

Mbosso, born Mbwana Yusuf Kilungi, joined Wasafi in 2018 and quickly rose to fame with his heartfelt Swahili love songs, earning a loyal fan base. After months of speculation, Diamond Platnumz confirmed the split, emphasizing that it was a mutual and amicable decision. He urged fans to ignore rumors, assuring that an official statement would clarify the situation.

Unlike former Wasafi artists such as Harmonize and Rayvanny, who had to pay hefty sums to leave, Mbosso exits without financial obligations—reportedly out of respect for Diamond and the Wasafi leadership. Baba Levo, a close associate of Diamond, also hinted at the label’s plans to sign nine new artists in 2025, signaling a new chapter for Wasafi.

Mbosso’s smooth transition contrasts with previous Wasafi departures, some of which were fraught with controversy. In a symbolic move, he wiped his social media accounts clean, fueling speculation about his future as an independent artist.

Meanwhile, Wasafi is actively scouting new talent. Auditions have been announced, targeting skilled singers, dancers, and songwriters, indicating the label’s commitment to staying at the forefront of Tanzania’s music scene.

Mbosso’s journey began in 2013 with the group Ya Moto Band before he joined Wasafi, where he cemented his status as a top artist with hits, a platinum-selling album, and millions of YouTube subscribers. As he embarks on a new solo chapter, fans eagerly await his next move.
