A 56-year-old Nigerian man, Yahya Nafiu, is seeking help. His wife, Latoyossi Alake, gave birth to 11 babies in Porto-Novo, Benin Republic.
The family is in urgent need of financial assistance to care for the surviving babies. Tragically, two of the babies have passed away. Nafiu moved to Cotonou 19 years ago for business.
He explained that this is his third wife’s first set of multiple births. Alake had earlier given birth to two children with him.
The babies were born in two separate batches. The first batch was born on July 7, 2024. The second batch was born on August 14, 2024.
This happened at a traditional birth attendant’s home. Nafiu’s elder brother, Alhaji Zakariyau Nafiu, the Imam of Iponrin, expressed concern.
He worried about the family’s ability to supply for the surviving babies. The family is facing challenges in raising money for marriage rites, medical bills, and police reports.
They need to secure funds before they can bring the children home to Ilorin. This will allow them to show the children to Nafiu’s parents.
Yahya Nafiu shared that the babies consist of eight boys and three girls. The family is struggling to cover the expenses linked to the birth of the 11 children.
The community is rallying to support the family in this challenging time. They are navigating the financial burden of caring for the surviving babies and ensuring their well-being.
