Shock in Nairobi as Billboard Celebrating Rigathi Gachagua’s New Party Is Torn Down Overnight.

A wave of political tension has erupted in the capital after a massive billboard congratulating former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua—popularly known as Riggy G—on launching his new party, Democracy for the Citizens (DCP), was mysteriously destroyed just days after being unveiled.

The billboard, located in Nairobi, proudly displayed images of Gachagua and DCP Party Secretary General Irungu Nyakera alongside the words “Hongera Riggy G on your party launch.”

But now, what remains is a tattered, vandalized frame that’s fueling questions and outrage.Photos of the wrecked billboard quickly made rounds online, stirring strong emotions among DCP supporters and Kenyans across the political spectrum.

Taking to social media on Saturday, May 17, Nyakera didn’t hold back. “You can destroy a sign, but you can’t kill a message. Congratulations, Riggy, on the DCP launch. The agenda is WANTAM for Kenya and Nairobi,” he posted defiantly.

Nyakera then fired a pointed question at political players in Nairobi, hinting at sabotage. “Politicians wa Kanairo/Kayole, isn’t it a bit too early for this?” he asked, fueling speculation of foul play.

The new party, officially launched on May 15, is already making bold moves. Its identity is striking—neon green, brown, and white colors, with a logo showing a hand cupped around an ear and the slogan “Skiza Wakenya” (Listen to Kenyans).

The symbolism? A party claiming to truly hear the people.Gachagua will helm the DCP, with a strong lineup of seasoned political figures backing him. Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala is the acting Deputy Party Leader.

Ex-CS for Agriculture, Mithika Linturi, takes charge as the National Organising Secretary.Cate Waruguru, once the Laikipia Woman Rep, will head the Council of Eminent Persons, joined by political veteran Maina Kamanda.

Other key figures include David Mingati as National Chairperson, Peter Mwathi on Strategy, Sarah Owino on Operations, and Hezron Obanga as Secretary General.

Former PDU chief Peter Mbae has been tasked with Economic Planning, while Wanjiku Thiga assumes the role of National Youth Leader.

While the party is barely out of the gates, the vandalism has sent a clear message: Kenya’s 2027 political battlefield is already heating up—and the blows are getting personal.

Who’s behind the billboard takedown? No one knows for sure. But one thing is certain: the streets of Nairobi are whispering, and the noise is only getting louder.
