Panic in Lavington: Gunfire Disrupts Gachagua’s Explosive Party Unveiling.

Tension exploded Thursday morning in Lavington, Nairobi County, during the dramatic unveiling of Rigathi Gachagua’s newly-formed Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

Just moments after the former Deputy President left the venue with top political allies, bedlam broke out forcing police to fire gunshots into the air to control an agitated crowd that surged toward Gachagua’s convoy.

A video obtained by WamuziNews.co.ke captured the high-stakes moment as an armed officer fired warning shots while frantic voices shouted, “Clear the vehicle!” amid a mob pushing through a choked exit point. In the height of the panic, Gachagua’s motorcade was forced to make an emergency stop as law enforcement scrambled to bring the disorder under control.

After about five tense minutes, the dust began to settle, but the shock lingered.Earlier that same day, Gachagua stunned the nation by taking the stage himself to announce the launch of the DCP his latest political mission aimed at reshaping the national conversation.

With a powerful slogan “Skiza Wakenya” (Listen to Kenyans), he promised a party that puts the voices of ordinary citizens first.

Making headlines within headlines, Gachagua boldly named former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala as the interim Deputy Party Leader and tapped former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi as National Organizing Secretary.

“This isn’t just another political outfit,” Gachagua declared. “This is a movement to make our leaders truly hear Kenyans not just pretend.”

With its bright green and white logo featuring fingers cupped to an ear, the DCP is already making noise not just in message, but in literal gunfire. What comes next for Gachagua’s camp remains to be seen but one thing’s for sure: Kenya’s political ground just shook.
