The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Central Management Committee appointed Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o. He will act on behalf of party leader Raila Odinga as chairperson of the party committee.
Raila is focusing on his African Union Commission (AUC) bid. The decision was made during a closed-door meeting chaired by Raila Odinga to discuss internal party affairs.
The party emphasized the importance of regular meetings to review the institution’s status as a democratic entity.
The party also addressed internal conflicts. They summoned Kakamega County members, including Governor Fernandes Barasa, due to disputes at the County Assembly.
ODM accused Barasa of fueling discord among party members in Kakamega and interfering with the designated Majority Leader.
Additionally, the party designated deputy leaders to resolve conflicts in Kilifi County. They urged all members to keep discipline and respect party protocols. The National Secretariat will communicate all sanctioned party meetings to members.
