A dramatic twist unfolded late Friday night after Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya was apprehended in what sources describe as a high-tension police operation along the Isiolo-Nanyuki highway.
Salasya, a rising political figure known for his controversial stances and fiery speeches, was whisked away to Nairobi Central Police Station under heavy guard. Reports now confirm that the lawmaker will be presented before the Milimani Law Courts on Monday morning.
According to his legal representative, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) cited an investigation into alleged incitement and ethnic hate speech—but failed to reveal any concrete charges.
“This is clearly a political witch hunt,” said his lawyer Echesa. “They admitted they were acting on instructions to detain him until Monday. The charges seem vague, possibly tied to politically motivated narratives.”

Echesa further alleged that the arrest turned dangerous when plainclothes officers, allegedly from the DCI, fired at the tyres of Salasya’s vehicle to bring it to a screeching halt.
The MP’s bodyguards were disarmed, and Salasya was taken without warning. The officers later told Salasya’s security detail that he was being taken to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road. His whereabouts remained unclear for hours, sparking anxiety among his supporters and political allies.
The MP, who has been on a countrywide tour rallying support for a potential 2027 presidential bid, has increasingly come under fire from political circles.
His arrest has only deepened speculation that the state is cracking down on outspoken leaders seen as a threat to the current regime.
Kenyans now wait anxiously for Monday, as the controversial lawmaker prepares to face what many are calling politically charged accusations.
