The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has published the timetable for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).
The exams will begin with a rehearsal on October 25, followed by the main examination, scheduled for October 28-30.
“The time allocated for each paper is stated next to the name of the paper. No additional time will be permitted. “The time allocated for reading through questions is included in the total time indicated on the question paper. Special paper instructions may specify otherwise,” stated KNEC.
The council requested that supervisors and invigilators ensure candidates receive personalized mark sheets containing their correct names and assessment numbers.
Candidates will undertake the mathematics paper in the morning on the first day of the examinations. They will take the English paper in mid-morning.
On the second day, candidates will complete the integrated science paper in the morning and Kiswahili/Kenyan Sign Language in mid-morning.
On the final day, candidates will sit for the creative arts and social studies paper in the morning.
KNEC also advised teachers to ensure candidates clearly understand the following instructions. They should be aware of the penalties for assessment irregularities or misconduct.
“Candidates must stay in the assessment room until the allocated period for the paper ends. They may only leave with special permission from the supervisor,” cautioned the council.
A candidate was observed committing an assessment irregularity in a paper. The candidate will have their entire subject results canceled.
Any individual who accesses assessment materials and deliberately discloses their contents will violate Section 27 of the KNEC Act. This applies whether they disclose verbally or in writing. Unauthorized persons, including candidates, are not permitted to receive this information.
29 of 2012 stipulates the penalty. The punishment will be imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years. Alternatively, a fine not exceeding 2 million shillings may be imposed. Both penalties can also apply.
