A nightmare unfolded at dawn along the infamous Nairobi-Nakuru highway as a violent head-on collision left three people dead on the spot, with scores injured, in a chilling scene straight out of a horror movie.
At around 6 AM, the normally chaotic Kwambira stretch turned into a blood-soaked battleground after a Luxury Sacco matatu, speeding toward Nairobi, slammed head-first into a truck barreling from Nakuru. The crash impact was catastrophic – metal twisted, glass shattered, and screams filled the air.
Gruesome images and raw footage, exclusively obtained by WamuziNews.co.ke, show the matatu’s driver’s cabin ripped apart, a grim testament to the devastating force of the collision. The truck didn’t escape unscathed either — it rolled over into a ditch, trapping its occupants in the crushed cab, begging for help.
Local residents, some still in pajamas, rushed out wielding axes and metal bars, desperately smashing windows to pull out the trapped and the injured from the wreckage. But for some, it was already too late.

The scene quickly spiraled into chaos as the wreck blocked both lanes, leading to a massive traffic snarl-up that stretched for kilometers. Emergency crews and police raced from Nakuru County, working furiously to rescue survivors and clear the wreck.
Blood, shattered glass, and twisted metal littered the highway, forcing authorities to temporarily shut down the road as they cleared the gory mess.
This heart-wrenching disaster comes just days after another deadly crash on the same highway that claimed 12 lives. And if that wasn’t enough, seven more people perished in a separate matatu accident at Kamandura Junction in Kiambu County last Friday.
With the April rains pouring down and visibility low, road fatalities are spiraling out of control, prompting urgent questions: What’s really going on along Kenya’s deadliest highway?
Investigations are underway – but for now, families are mourning, roads are soaked in sorrow, and the nation is in shock.
