In a dramatic escalation of political warfare, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that he is set to deliver explosive evidence to the U.S. government—allegedly implicating President William Ruto in illicit dealings with Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Somalia-based terror group al‑Shabaab.
Speaking on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in Olathe, Kansas, Gachagua—now leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party—warned that escape is not an option. “You cannot run away with it,” he declared. “I was your deputy; we have the evidence. I was there when all those meetings took place… We are giving those details to the Americans.”
His comments come on the heels of the U.S. Senate’s decision to open investigations into President Ruto’s alleged involvement with the RSF and possible links to violent suppression during youth‑led protests commemorating Gen Z and Saba Saba Day. Gachagua framed Ruto’s dismissal of U.S. concerns as a smokescreen. “I saw Ruto… fumbling with words, claiming the Americans have a problem with him because of his relationship with China. That is not the issue,” he asserted.

At the heart of Gachagua’s allegations is the claim that President Ruto has engaged in business with RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo, including arms supplies to terror actors. The message was unmistakable: international scrutiny is intensifying. “The Americans want to investigate to unearth your business dealings with Hemedti… where you are doing good business and supplying arms to the terrorist group to kill women and children,” he said.
Gachagua also leveled a startling charge—Ruto allegedly held clandestine meetings with al‑Shabaab operatives in Mandera and suspended vetting processes for foreign nationals seeking Kenyan identification documents, a move Gachagua claims poses grave security risks far beyond Kenya’s borders.
In closing, Gachagua urged President Ruto to confront the accusations rather than conceal behind geopolitical distractions: “Stop hiding behind China… This time, you won’t escape accountability. You may manipulate the Kenyan people, but you cannot manipulate the American government. You are on their radar.”
