Gachagua Dares Murkomen: “Arrest Me When I Return”—Political Sparks Fly Over Al-Shabaab Allegations.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua delivered a defiant challenge to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen today amid rising tensions over terrorism claims made during his U.S. tour.

Gachagua, speaking at a diaspora town hall in San Francisco, turned Murkomen’s call for a post-arrival statement into a bold dare.

“I am not a leader who buys fear,” he declared, adding that he intends to publicly share his return date, time, and flight details—“so whoever wants to arrest me can do it.”

The escalation stems from allegations Gachagua made overseas, where he claimed President William Ruto held secret nighttime meetings with Al-Shabaab operatives in Mandera, and criticized the removal of ID vetting for foreigners—raising concerns of lapses in national security.

In Nairobi, Murkomen countered swiftly, directing the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to have Gachagua record a statement immediately upon his arrival to account for his gravenational security assertions.

He dismissed the former deputy’s remarks as reckless and politically motivated, saying they insulted the reputation of the country.Murkomen insisted that anyone making such claims should engage with domestic authorities, not avoid accountability by hiding behind foreign institutions.

Meanwhile, Gachagua maintained that official action should come from the U.S. Senate, which he said already launched investigations, not Kenya’s police.

Back home, Mandera Senator Ali Roba added fuel to the fire, dismissing Gachagua’s claims as malicious and confirming that the President’s tour had been transparent and above board.

In response, Gachagua struck an unwavering tone: “When my day to go to Kenya is due, I will announce the date, the hour, and the flight number.” His message was clear: legal threats won’t silence him.
