Njeri Maina, a Kirinyaga woman representative, has advised Kenyan Gen Zs to stop blaming President William Ruto for the country’s problems.
Njeri sought to clarify the underlying causes of youth unemployment and system inefficiencies, which have prompted Generation Z to revolt against Ruto’s government, in an interview, distancing the current administration from responsibility.
Maina stated, “I don’t understand the young people’s frustration because, factually speaking, the high rate of unemployment and system failure we are experiencing is not the Kenya Kwanza government’s fault.”
“We have had successive governments, and if you look at how we have been doing things, the young people are telling us that the system is no longer working, but the system is no longer working because, quote after quote, the Kenyan government created it that way.”
Njeri emphasized the necessity of a candid national dialogue and urged all stakeholders to acknowledge Kenya’s systemic issues’ historical context.
