9 Dead, 4 Critical in Horrific Eldoret-Kitale Matatu Collision

Nine people tragically lost their lives early Friday morning in a head-on collision involving a matatu on the Eldoret-Kitale route and a lorry near Chemoset in Soy.

Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed the fatal crash, adding that four severely injured passengers were rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest the matatu may have been speeding and veered out of its lane, leading to the collision.

Mwanthi appealed to all road users to strictly observe traffic laws to avoid such devastating incidents.
