Uhuru Kenyatta Issues Rare Public Warning to Jubilee Party Leaders—Defends Rigathi Gachagua and Threatens Expulsion of Insulters.

In a sweeping and forceful intervention that marks a clear assertion of authority, former President Uhuru Kenyatta has publicly warned Jubilee Party leaders against attacking Rigathi Gachagua.

The former president demanded an end to personal insults and factional verbal attacks within the party, declaring that any member found engaging in such conduct will be expelled.

Authority Reasserted at Jubilee Grassroots Meeting.

Speaking during a Jubilee grassroots gathering in Thika Greens, Murang’a County on Friday, 7 November 2025, Kenyatta took a strong stance against the rising tide of verbal assaults from some party members who have been lambasting political allies and rivals alike.

He singled out criticism and social-media insults directed at Gachagua, saying the behaviour undermines party cohesion. “I don’t want that nonsense in my party. People should do their politics respectfully,” Kenyatta asserted, warning that those continuing with verbal attacks will be dealt with decisively.

He further targeted senior party officials by name, including Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, cautioning them not to lead or encourage a culture of disunity.

Key Implications for Jubilee 2027 Strategy.

Kenyatta’s intervention carries several pivotal implications for the party and the broader Mt. Kenya political landscape:

Control of the Party Narrative: By defending Gachagua and silencing internal criticism, Kenyatta is signalling who holds influence in the Mt. Kenya king-maker bloc ahead of 2027.

Disciplinary Shift: The threat to expel members marks a shift from internal tolerance of factional disagreements to stricter enforcement of discipline within Jubilee.

Regional Power Play: Gachagua’s position in Mt. Kenya politics is bolstered by Kenyatta’s public support, narrowing the space for dissenters and rivals in the region’s political machinery.

Electoral Calculus Turning: With the 2027 General Election on the horizon, the message to Jubilee members is clear: united front or risk marginalisation—and this move aims to prevent regional fragmentation that could benefit competing formations.

How Members Are Responding.

Party insiders say the mood at the grassroots is tense. Several leaders had already been airing grievances and launching personal attacks through social-media platforms and local meetings, believing they were operating with impunity.

Kenyatta’s statement, however, has reportedly triggered a scramble behind the scenes to align messaging and leadership positions. Some rebels within the party are now reportedly seeking private meetings to reconcile or risk being branded as disloyal.
