TISA coordinator questions, “Ruto has violated the constitution, so where is his impeachment motion?”

Diana Gichengo is the national coordinator of The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA). She has publicly called for an impeachment motion against President William Ruto. She asserts that he has violated the Constitution. During an appearance on the Citizen Daybreak show, Gichengo emphasized accountability.

She stated that both Ruto and his cabinet members should be held responsible for their actions. She highlighted this need for accountability. At the same time, the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, faces his own impeachment proceedings. These proceedings are due to alleged constitutional violations.

Gichengo criticized the inconsistency in how leaders are treated. She pointed out that former cabinet members who violated the Constitution were not subjected to the same scrutiny. She urged the public to demand accountability from all leaders.

This applies regardless of their rank. People should make certain that those who violate the Constitution are removed from office. Her comments show a growing sentiment among Kenyans who are frustrated with the perceived lack of accountability in their government.

The impeachment motion against Gachagua has gained traction, with 291 Members of Parliament supporting it. The motion cites multiple constitutional violations related to his conduct and responsibilities.

Public participation on the matter is unfolding. Many citizens are calling for Ruto’s removal. They argue that both leaders have struggled to govern effectively and uphold the law.

In the midst of these political tensions, Gachagua has expressed remorse for his actions. He has asked for forgiveness from President Ruto and the public. He acknowledged his wrongdoings during a church service. He indicated a wish to mend relationships.

He is preparing to defend himself against the impeachment charges. The situation highlights the ongoing struggle for accountability and good governance in Kenya.
