Senator Thang’wa’s Solution to Kenya Abductions

Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa has formulated a strategy to halt the abductions in Kenya.

In a statement, Thang’wa encouraged the public to perform a citizens’ arrest on those abducting Kenyans in public spaces.

He pointed out that since the police have claimed they are unaware of the abductors, Kenyans should regard these individuals as ‘thugs’ and then alert uniformed police.

“Now that the National Police Service has acknowledged they do not know who is abducting Kenyans, we should regard these abductors as thugs. Block their vehicles, conduct a citizen’s arrest, and then notify the uniformed police,” Thang’wa remarked.

The incidence of young people being abducted in Kenya is increasing, with the most recent case involving social media influencer Peter Muteti, who was reportedly taken outside his apartment in Uthiru, Nairobi, after posting an AI-generated image considered offensive to President William Ruto.

His mobile phone was turned off shortly after the event, and he has not been reachable since.

In another instance, Billy Mwangi was abducted in Embu County after posting on X, which some viewed as offensive to President Ruto.

Mwangi’s family reported that he was forcibly taken from a barbershop by four armed men in masks, who were driving a double cabin pickup and rapidly moved towards the Embu-Nairobi Highway.

The surge in abductions has prompted leaders from various parties to denounce the actions, with most holding the government responsible for the abduction of youths critical of the President.
