Ruto Declares War on Detractors, Promises 1 Million Homes Electrified in 3 Years

President William Ruto has vowed to safeguard his administration’s development agenda from what he termed as “detractors” aiming to derail the country’s progress.

During a three-day tour of the North Rift, Ruto highlighted his government’s achievements in advancing development projects across Kenya. Speaking in Uasin Gishu County on Friday, he urged citizens to acknowledge the positive strides being made.

“Kenya’s progress will not be hindered by those resisting our efforts to move the nation forward,” Ruto affirmed.

Despite facing heavy criticism, particularly from younger Kenyans, Ruto called on the youth to avoid speaking negatively about their country and instead focus on its potential.

The President singled out rural electrification as a flagship initiative of his administration. “Within three years, we aim to connect one million Kenyans through the rural electrification program. In Uasin Gishu alone, Sh1.8 billion has been allocated to connect 20,000 households,” Ruto revealed. “This is a nationwide effort, not just limited to this region.”

On Thursday, while addressing residents in Elgeyo Marakwet, Ruto declared that the country’s economy is now stable, crediting two years of reforms since his assumption of office in September 2022.

“We have dedicated the past two years to economic stabilization, and I am pleased to report that our economy is now on firm ground,” Ruto stated. He emphasized the importance of collaboration to overcome challenges and foster national prosperity while rejecting divisive political tactics.

“This is a time to unite and build a stronger Kenya, not to engage in backward politics,” he concluded.
