Raila: ODM Is Not in Government, Only Provided Experts to Ruto

In a recent address in Mombasa, Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), firmly rejected claims that his party has joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance government.

He reiterated that ODM remains a key player within the Azimio la Umoja coalition and clarified the nature of the party’s engagement with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Odinga emphasized that the discussions with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance are strictly for the purpose of national dialogue, not indicative of any political alliance or merger. He stated, “There is no marriage between ODM and Kenya Kwanza. We have not signed any agreement.” His remarks highlight a clear distinction between engaging in dialogue and forming a political alliance.

The former Prime Minister pointed out that the intent behind participating in these discussions is to address pressing national issues, including the high cost of living and necessary electoral reforms. However, he stressed that this does not mean ODM has shifted its allegiance from the opposition.

Raila Odinga’s statements underscore the party’s commitment to advocating for the interests of Kenyans while maintaining its position in the opposition. He noted that the anticipated national dialogue to discuss these critical issues has yet to take place, reinforcing ODM’s stance of remaining independent from the current government.
