MP Geoffrey Ruku Calls for TSC Overhaul Due to Corruption.

Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku, affiliated with UDA, urged for a thorough restructuring of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

He cited corruption as the reason behind the ongoing nationwide teachers’ strike. He disclosed witnessing bribery within the TSC.

This involved his friends and former schoolmates. He emphasized the need for radical changes to curb such practices. Ruku acknowledged possessing evidence to support his claims.

He mentioned classmates who resorted to bribery for promotions due to the corrupt system. He highlighted the existence of cartels and agents outside TSC. These individuals allow illicit activities.

This leads to teachers having to pay large amounts for promotions. The MP lamented the impact of corruption on teachers.

He stated that despite proposing reforms in Parliament, the Ministry of Education did not implement them. He criticized the government for neglecting policies aimed at combating corruption within the commission.

This neglect affects teachers from remote areas. They struggle to advance in their careers due to systemic corruption. Ruku expressed frustration over the situation.

He emphasized the plight of underprivileged teachers. Authorities have neglected to tackle the pervasive corruption within TSC.

This led him to advocate for significant changes within the commission.
