Martha Condemns Senate Speaker Kingi’s Support for Abductions

Martha Karua, leader of the Narc Kenya Party, has criticized Senate Speaker Amason Kingi for his apparent endorsement of the ongoing abductions of Kenyans. Speaking at the funeral of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s mother in Bungoma, Kingi noted an increase in public indiscipline, pointing to personal attacks on leaders, including the President. He stated that while criticism of the government is acceptable, personal attacks are not, implying support for actions against those speaking negatively about President William Ruto.

Kingi’s comments sparked backlash from various Kenyans, who accused him of betrayal, prompting Karua to label him an embarrassment to the legal profession. She argued that the existing laws are sufficient for addressing offenses, emphasizing that recent abductions are unlawful. Karua asserted, “Absolute madness. Amason Kingi, you are an embarrassment to the legal fraternity; any person suspected of an offense should be processed according to the law, not abducted or tortured. “
