Man dies in altercation with cousin over sugarcane in Kericho.

A 21-year-old man was killed in a dispute with his cousin over sugarcane in Turkuito, Kericho County. According to police, the altercation stemmed from a land disagreement when 21-year-old Nicholas Kipkoech uprooted sugarcane planted on his cousin Kelvin Kibet’s family land. This confrontation escalated into a physical fight.

During the incident, Kibet stabbed Kipkoech in the neck with a sharp object, resulting in severe injuries, as reported by the police. The victim was taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. Kipkoech’s body is currently at the same hospital mortuary, pending a postmortem examination. Police officers are actively pursuing the arrest of the known suspect.

In a separate incident, police officers in Meru are investigating the death of a man found in a quarry in Igoji, Meru County. The discovery involved the deceased, Dennis Bundi, aged 23, located in a quarry in the Mutonga sub-location of Afro Bushero, according to police.

The landowner reported the finding after encountering the body while at the quarry. Upon their arrival, police confirmed the report, discovering Bundi lying face down. A preliminary examination revealed head injuries, specifically to the forehead and back, raising suspicions regarding the circumstances of his death.

Notably, no murder weapon was recovered at the scene. In the ongoing investigation, police arrested Patrick Mugendi, identified as the last person seen with Bundi late at night prior to his death. Mugendi’s arrest is part of efforts to gather information about the events leading to Bundi’s fatal injuries.

The body of Dennis Bundi has been taken to Kanyakine Sub-County Hospital mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. The case remains open, with police continuing their investigation to uncover the truth behind the incident.
