Linturi Explodes Out of UDA — Cites “Corruption, Bloodshed & Betrayal” in Shocking Resignation!

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has stormed out of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), blasting the ruling party for what he calls “monstrous betrayal” of the Kenyan people.

The fiery resignation, delivered with thunder on Wednesday, sent shockwaves across the political landscape. Linturi didn’t hold back accusing UDA of being a haven for forced abductions, rampant corruption, brutal killings of innocent youth, and a merciless taxation regime that’s strangling Kenyans.

“The party I once believed in has turned into a nightmare,” Linturi declared. “It no longer stands for justice, dignity, or the will of the people. It has become a machine that crushes voices, ignores suffering, and tramples on the Constitution.”

He decried the ruling party as a “failed institution” that has completely abandoned its promises and moral compass over the last two years insisting it no longer deserves to call itself a political party.

In a scathing rebuke, he warned Kenyans to steer clear of UDA, describing it as a party that has “embraced lawlessness, disrespected women and children, and silenced citizens with violence and fear.”

“I refuse to be part of this betrayal. I, Mithika Linturi, with immediate effect, denounce and resign from the United Democratic Alliance,” he declared, drawing the curtain on a three-year stint that began in 2022 when he joined UDA to vie for Meru Governor a race he lost to impeached governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Although he later secured the Agriculture docket, his tenure ended in disgrace after the infamous May 2024 fertilizer scandal.

Linturi’s dramatic exit comes just a day after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also cut ties with UDA. Gachagua lambasted the party for squandering Kenya’s future and abandoning its founding principles.

“This party had a golden chance to uplift Kenya but instead, it chose greed, deception, and failure,” Gachagua said as he hinted at forming a new political force, expected to launch on Thursday, May 15.

With back-to-back defections at the top, the UDA ship appears to be rocking and Kenyans are watching with bated breath.

Is this the beginning of the end for the ruling party?
