Gachagua Confident Western-Mt Kenya Alliance Will Win in 2027

Western and Mt Kenya voting alliance, along with other regions, can readily establish the next government if they unite, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has remarked.

In an interview with media outlets from Western Kenya in Kakamega, Gachagua emphasized that the Mulembe Nation must first come together and speak as one.

He stated that Western has the capability of having over five million registered voters.

“If you put in the effort, you can achieve five million votes. Moreover, it is crucial to turnout in significant numbers to vote since voter participation here has historically been subpar. It has consistently hovered around 65 percent, but you must ensure it reaches 95, 96, 98, or even 99 percent,” he expressed.

Gachagua noted that it is time for the Western region to stop being exploited by leaders from other communities.

“You have backed Raila Odinga, and he has not triumphed, yet he has continually leveraged your support to negotiate his way into power,” he stated.

Gachagua asserted that Western doesn’t require anyone from another community to join the negotiation discussions.

He clarified that Western possesses enough votes to participate in negotiations independently.

“With five million votes, you do not require a mediator,” he affirmed.

Gachagua also remarked that it is inappropriate for a community to engage in negotiations through an “outsider”.

“It is high time the people of Western Kenya make a deliberate decision on how to organize their votes to ensure they hold significance,” he added.

Gachagua stressed the importance of the Western region recognizing its status as a substantial community.

“You must recognize that you are numerous and influential,” he urged.

Gachagua additionally mentioned that he is closely observing the actions of DAP Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala, and Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya.

“I am monitoring them, and if you ask me, I believe they have the potential to unify the region,” he stated.
