Fire Destroys Limuru Country Club, Sparks Safety Concerns

A fire at the historic Limuru Country Club in Kiambu County has destroyed property worth millions. Located 25 kilometers from Nairobi and established in 1945, the club is considered a landmark in the region.

Footage obtained by Wamuzi News Ke captured massive flames engulfing the clubhouse, leaving it in ruins. Efforts by county disaster teams to contain the blaze proved insufficient, as firefighters reportedly arrived after much of the structure had already been consumed.

Eyewitnesses recounted hearing loud explosions, believed to have come from liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage facilities on-site. While no official statements have been released by the Kiambu County government or club management, the club confirmed no injuries occurred during the incident.

“We’re thankful to report that no staff, members, or guests were present during the fire,” management said.

Meanwhile, in Nairobi’s densely populated Kawangware estate, another fire left several people injured and dozens homeless. This fire reportedly originated from an LPG dealer located within the residential area.

The same day, Kikuyu town near the Southern Bypass also witnessed a fire that destroyed property of unknown value. These incidents have sparked concerns about the safety protocols for LPG storage facilities across the country, raising alarm among the public.
