Father Allegedly Beats Daughter to Death

Authorities in Chesikaki, Bungoma County, have launched an investigation into the alleged killing of a young girl by her father.

According to local chief Maurice Otala, the 41-year-old father is accused of physically assaulting his daughter after she returned home following a period of absence. Speaking during a press briefing on Friday, January 10, Otala said he immediately informed the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) in Chesikaki, who, together with detectives, responded to the scene.

A police report revealed that the incident took place on the evening of Thursday, January 9. Neighbors discovered the lifeless body of the 22-year-old woman in her father’s house on Friday morning. The body reportedly bore multiple injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.

Further details indicate that the victim had recently completed her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, where she earned a grade of D.

The father was arrested shortly after the discovery and is being held at Chesikaki Police Station. He is expected to be arraigned on Monday, January 13. The woman’s body has been taken to Sante Hospital for preservation, pending a postmortem examination.

Chief Otala dismissed rumors that the assault was connected to the woman’s KCSE performance. “I strongly condemn this act. It is not a solution to family disagreements or academic challenges,” he said.

He urged parents to explore non-violent approaches to discipline, emphasizing that open communication and guidance are more constructive methods of resolving disputes.
