Evangelical Churches to Ruto: Stop Making False Promises to Kenyans

Evangelical churches in Kenya have criticized President William Ruto for making more promises to the public, accusing him of overcommitting without fulfilling prior obligations.

In a statement, the clergy urged Ruto to concentrate on providing concrete outcomes rather than making further commitments to the public.

Led by Bishop Kepha Omae, the Kenya Coalition of Church Alliance and Ministries (KCCCAM) urged Ruto to prioritize fulfilling his promises, particularly regarding key projects.

The clergy stressed the importance of a scorecard to evaluate Ruto’s accomplishments since assuming office.

Omae also condemned the government for not holding corrupt officials accountable, calling for increased efforts to address corruption within the administration.

“The government’s failure to penalize corrupt officials and recover misappropriated public funds is unacceptable. There appears to be a widespread belief among Kenyans that the top leadership is implicated in corruption, which is why it is allowing this wrongdoing,” Omae stated.

Bishop Omae further emphasized that it is time for the Kenya Kwanza government to take concrete action and combat corruption in the country.

Simultaneously, Omae pointed out the escalating issues in the health sector following the implementation of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), demanding an immediate review of the system to resolve these concerns.
