Cleophas Malala’s reign as UDA Secretary-General has come to a crashing halt after the High Court issued a bombshell ruling affirming his removal from office.
Justice Bahati Mwamuye delivered the jaw-dropping verdict on Monday, overruling the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT), which had earlier offered Malala a temporary lifeline by reinstating him.
The High Court didn’t just stop there—it went full throttle, declaring the August 19, 2024 Gazette notice that axed Malala still stands and is fully enforceable. In a stunning blow to Malala’s camp, the judge wiped out all PPDT proceedings related to the case and shut the door on any further appeal through that channel.
“The appeal before the PPDT is terminated. All orders issued in favor of Malala are officially void,” the ruling thundered.
With the court’s decision, Hassan Omar’s position as UDA’s Secretary-General is now cemented—a strategic move that strengthens President William Ruto’s grip on party leadership as Kenya barrels toward the next political showdown.
