Initial reports indicate there are 25 survivors, with 22 of them having been hospitalized, stated Kazakhstan’s emergency ministry.

The aircraft, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, caught fire during its descent near the city of Aktau, but officials confirmed the blaze has been extinguished.

The cause of the crash remains unknown.

The transport ministry reported there were 62 passengers and 5 crew members aboard the Embraer 190 plane.
