Panic has gripped Isiolo after a daring assassination attempt on United Democratic Alliance (UDA) MCA Nicholas Lorot of Burat Ward. Lorot was ambushed and shot multiple times near the Trojan Petrol Station in Isiolo Town on Wednesday, leaving him in critical condition.
Hitman Strikes After Secret Meeting
According to reports, Lorot had just left a private meeting with a high-ranking Isiolo County Assembly official when a gunman emerged and unleashed a hail of bullets at his vehicle.
In a desperate fight for survival, Lorot tried to shield himself, but the bullets tore through his right hand, severing his thumb. Two more rounds struck the same arm, leaving him severely wounded.
Miraculously, he was rushed to a hospital in Meru, where doctors stabilized his condition.
Leaders Demand Justice as Fear Spreads
The Isiolo County Assembly has issued a furious statement, condemning the attack as a brazen act of cowardice.
“We strongly denounce the attempted murder of Hon. Nicholas Lorot. This shocking incident occurred in broad daylight near Northern Galaxy Hotel. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement to ensure these criminals face justice,” the statement read.
Senators, Governor Outraged Over Security Failure
On the Senate floor, Isiolo Senator Adan Fatuma Dullo did not mince words, calling the attack a clear sign that the safety of political leaders is under siege.
“Last night, Lorot was sprayed with bullets—four in total! And yet this happened right in the heart of Isiolo’s Central Business District, with security forces present. How is this possible?” she thundered.
Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo echoed the outrage, demanding an urgent crackdown on those behind the attack.
“This was a despicable act! I have directed security agencies to move swiftly and bring these criminals to justice. We will not allow lawlessness to thrive in Isiolo,” the governor declared.
