23 TV Stations Face SHUTDOWN Over Illegal Betting Ads – Kameme TV Among the Culprits!

In an explosive move shaking Kenya’s airwaves, the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) has dropped the hammer on 23 TV stations—including popular Kameme TV—ordering their immediate shutdown over blatant defiance of betting advertisement regulations.

In a fiery statement dated May 5, 2025, BCLB Director P.K. Mbugi revealed that these channels continued to air betting promos with payment prompts on-screen, even after a nationwide 30-day ban was issued. Despite the clear directive, these media outlets allegedly went rogue, urging viewers to send money and take part in gambling promotions.

“The board gave strict orders halting all betting ads—but shockingly, these stations chose to ignore the ban, flooding their screens with unauthorized promos,” the statement blasted.

The BCLB has now called in the big guns, urging the Communications Authority to immediately take action against the rogue broadcasters. A report has also been handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to initiate legal action against those behind the violations.

Channels now facing the axe include Kameme TV, Tohanchane TV, Favour Life TV, Yahweh TV, Goodwill TV, Massa TV, Swahili TV, Humble Touch, and others like Moja One, Naivera TV, Aviation TV, Happy TV, and Venus TV—totaling 23 stations.

“This is not a warning. This is the beginning of a crackdown,” BCLB stated, warning all media platforms to comply or face severe consequences.

As the media landscape braces for impact, silence continues from the stations involved, while eyes turn to the Communications Authority for the next decisive move.

Kenya’s media industry is on edge—and this may just be the beginning.
