Woman among 5 killed in a traffic accident in Nakuru, along with her four sons.

Five family members have died in an accident in the Mbaruk area along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

The five include a woman and her four children, all sons.

The accident occurred at 7am when a Mercedes car driven by a man identified as Christopher Ambani heading to Nakuru collided head-on with a lorry.

Police believe the five killed are Ambani’s family members.

The lorry was heading towards Nairobi.

Gigil area OCPD Jamlek Ngaruiya says the Mercedes car was overtaking on the wrong lane causing the head-on collision.

“The woman and the children died on the spot while Ambani was rushed to St Joseph hospital where he was admitted,  said the OCPD.

“We visited the scene and moved the bodies to a morgue in Nakuru”, he said.

According to the driver of the lorry, Morris Wahome, the personal car was driving at a high speed.

“Nilikuwa nimeovertake nikamhepa. Sasa akakuja pahali niko. Hapa kando ya barabara huku kwa nyasi,” he said.

“Pole sana (I’m very sorry).”

He said he was heading to Nairobi while the personal car was head towards the opposite direction.
