Similar to Raila, Uhuru also denies any alliance with Ruto following the Cabinet appointments of his allies – Look!
The Jubilee Party has similarly refuted any alliance with President William Ruto after the appointment of allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta to the Cabinet.
In a statement, Uhuru, via Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, emphasized that the party remains firmly in the opposition, despite recent developments that may suggest otherwise.
His remarks followed the nomination of several Jubilee-affiliated individuals to the Cabinet, a move that has fueled speculation regarding the party’s alignment.
The nominations occurred just days after a prominent meeting between President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Jubilee is in opposition. We are aligned with what our party leader communicated to William Ruto to. . . develop the economy,” he stated during a press conference on Monday.
Kioni’s clarification came shortly after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga defended the Uhuru-Ruto meeting, stating that the two leaders merely exchanged greetings, and only a formal announcement would constitute a handshake.
Regarding the appointment of Uhuru’s allies to government, Raila insisted that Ruto’s choice of individuals from the Jubilee party was driven by the necessity to form an inclusive government.
He further clarified that any handshake would result from a signed agreement, which would be made public by Uhuru and Ruto.
