Ruto, who is experiencing significant opposition in the Mt Kenya region, personally traveled to Uhuru’s Ichaweri residence in Gatundu South where they discussed national issues.
The meeting caught many off guard as their relationship has appeared strained since Ruto held the position of deputy president under Uhuru’s leadership.
Uhuru chose not to support Ruto’s 2022 presidential campaign, instead endorsing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as his favored successor.
Lawyer Nelson Havi, responding to the meeting between President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, remarked that both leaders have disappointed the influential Mt Kenya region and cannot restore the trust of the region’s voters to enhance their political prospects.
Havi stated on the Citizen TV breakfast show that Uhuru no longer embodies the Mt Kenya region.
“Uhuru Kenyatta has only one vote and no longer embodies Mt Kenya.
“There are discussions about a new coalition government beyond the existing alliance between President Ruto and Raila Odinga; for what purpose? ” Havi stated.
