Mutua’s Party ‘Maendeleo Chap Chap’ Rejects UDA Merger in Fierce Rebellion!

Tensions between Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap and the ruling UDA Party have resurfaced, with a section of MCAs strongly opposing any plans for a merger.

Led by Minority Leader Judas Mbili Ndawa, the MCAs dismissed claims that Mutua’s party was considering dissolving to align itself with UDA.

“Maendeleo Chap Chap remains an independent party,” Ndawa declared. “With 12 representatives in the National Assembly, we are the second-largest party in the Ukambani region after Wiper. We are not seeking any merger.”

He went on to challenge those advocating for the dissolution of the party, asserting, “No official meetings have been held to discuss such a move. This is merely political propaganda.”

Their remarks come in response to Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya, who recently issued a warning to Mutua, urging him to merge with UDA or face impeachment.

Speaking on January 25, Kawaya accused certain leaders of using their party affiliations for personal gain, warning, “We are closely watching. Business cannot continue as usual if some people refuse to support the President fully.”

Kawaya further insisted that Mutua should demonstrate loyalty to President William Ruto by merging Maendeleo Chap Chap with UDA, questioning why a party with only two MPs should remain independent when larger parties like ANC had already dissolved.

“If he truly supports the President, why is he hesitant? Keeping a small party intact suggests ulterior motives. The President has made it clear that these small parties must merge to foster national unity,” Kawaya stated.

As political realignments continue to shake the country, new alliances have also heightened political tensions.

Recently, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka formed a surprising alliance with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, a move seen as a direct challenge to President Ruto.

This unexpected political partnership has sent shockwaves across Ukambani, a key battleground in national politics, further complicating the region’s political landscape.
